*****5++ ‘Seven Minutes’ STARS*****
DISCLAIMER: This is definitely the most evasive review I have written to date. Besides my emotions pin-balling in my chest at the incredible depth of this story – I truly believe you need to go into this story blind with no spoilers. I have left my category footer in the review and that is all the ‘spoiler-ish’ information I will be posting. I will also not be posting my usual amount of quotes from the book in order to prevent any ‘spoiler-ish’ moments. –K
“I want to be worthy, and I’m afraid I never will be.”
I wasn’t sure what I would be in for in this story, other than vague musings that Lance’s story would be much different on an angst level than the others. While I was right I was wrong too, I wasn’t prepared for the masterpiece that Helena Hunting created in Pucked Off. I haven’t lived, breathed, cried, empathized and felt so much anguish for a character, a book, like this in a long time. This is the golden ticket to the ride we all want to take, that special story that connects with you in heartbreakingly beautiful ways and makes you believe in the power of the written word.
If you’re a fan of the Pucked series you’re already familiar with Lance ‘Romance’ Romero. The life of the party. A favorite among the bunnies. And duped by Tash. Take all the information you’ve gathered in the last five books…and throw it out. Yep. You think you know Lance? You have NO IDEA. In the same vein, you think you know this series? Yeah, no. This book is a game changer – an incredible, emotional, highly evocative game changer. I had no clue that Lance would completely and outright capture my heart from the first chapter. There’s still the charming supporting characters from previous books with their banter and family-of-friends atmosphere, there’s even the quirky humor we’ve come to know in this series…but the visceral emotional connection with Lance and his hidden complexities is AH-MAZ-ING. I’m having problems finding my words I’m so in love, in awe, of this story. The feels. All. The. Feels.
Not to be passed over, the heroine, Lance’s lady love is just as awesome. Caring, compassionate and introspective. She’s the perfect balance and I adored that in the difficult moments of the tale she stayed true to her character. After learning Lance’s secrets I truly couldn’t have picked someone better.
This series has been a favorite of mine for some time with its humor, sexy shenanigans and quirky real to life characters that have grown on me with each successive book. But Pucked Off? Well this book, Lance his beautiful leading lady and the Pucked family will linger with me for some time, and has a permanent place on my keeper shelf and my heart.
Oh, and if you haven’t figured it out by now, READ THIS BOOK. I cannot recommend it enough.
“I want you forever.”
